One month ago, I had my vacation in China. The first site was in Jinan with my son Gai Yi together. Gai sent me a useful report on the ground flare system of a south plant. I met a few new English words when I read it. So I have to look for a dictionary in flat. Finally, I found a pocket Oxford Dictionary in a book shelf in my son’s room. Amazedly, I could find some words in it, which are not found in normal dictionary, such as Kingdom Software as they are more like British English words not American English. I am very excited so as to take it with me in Doha.
Today, I checked some words in it so that I found this dictionary is good. I got a word READER in it. There are a explain in English for this word as following.
reader n. one who reads, eps. aloud in church, book of extracts for learning a language, device to produce image that can be read from microflim etc. university lecture of higher grade, publisher’s employee who reports on submitted manuscripts. printer’s proof-corrector
It sounds fantastic! Because it mentions a device to read info from microflim etc. I means that it is 读卡器and microflim is to be understand as micro-storage card. It is so unexpected that I find this dictionary published in 1984 with seventh edition in New York. I bought it with my ex Gai in Jinan Quan Cheng Lu Book Store, on 3rd, Dec. in 1990 based on my remark in its page. So being interested in record I write down Leaning British English, Arona in Doha, 21-09-07.
PS:
Thank Vishal for his frequent encouragement to my English learning.
